This picture was taken before Akash was rescued
On May 8th, we received a call seeking help in rescuing a dog named Akash who was locked inside a house by his owner in Thiruvotriyur near Chennai for the past few days. Animal lover, Priya Varshini, has been feeding Akash till then through the window. The owners went on a vacation and they left him behind to fend for himself. Akash was tied with a metal chain, inside the locked house.
Team PFCI rushed to the nearby police station and lodged a complaint. The police took three hours to decide on the matter and finally gave the go ahead to break the lock and release Akash. PFCI received the CSR copy from the police and with their help, rescued Akash.

The CSR copy registered by the Thiruvotriyur police
Akash was checked by the vet and given enough food and water. Akash is now at foster care and will be up for adoption. The case registered with the police will be investigated once the owner returns.
We are not able to understand such recklessness on the part of the owners. Why do they even keep pets if they can’t look after them? They would certainly not have left their own child like they did to Akash. Why such a treatment is meted out to the poor animals with no fault of theirs? So many unanswered questions and like every time it’s the animals that suffer. When will this attitude change?
